GPG Keychain: Log into key

I created a PGP key for my email, and published it a month ago.

Recently I had to reinstall my computer, and I didn’t create a backup of my key since I thought I could sign into the key I already had created.
I have the public key for it and imported it into my keychain, but I can’t use it as my own, only as a contact.

Looking trough the internet the only answers I found was that I needed a backup, which I don’t have.
Is there a way for me to log into my old key without using backup but by using the password I created instead?

That there would be a sign in option

    Hi Favo,

welcome to the GPGTools support platform. Sorry you are having problems using GPG Suite.

I am not quite sure I understand what you mean by "I thought I could sign into the key I already had created.". The OpenPGP key you created is created locally on your computer. There is no online service that has the secret key part. If there was that would be a security nightmare. If you do not have any backup at all, the key is probably lost.

This KB-article explains what to do if you forgot your password or lost access to your secret key.

Let me know if you need further assistance after going through that KB.

    All the best,
