After a first-time install of GPG Suite, launching Mail.app results in no windows opening, and most of the options under the menus are greyed out. Mail is running but unusable. Mail was open and working properly when I started the install and I allowed the installer to close Mail.

MacOS 10.14.3
Mail 12.2
GPG Suite 2018.5
GPG Mail 3.0.1

Expected
I expected Mail to work.

Additional info
I cannot get to the Preferences to enable GPG Mail, that is one of the options greyed out. I tried restarting the Mac, with no change.

    Hi Bob,

we are very sorry for your bad experience with GPG Suite.

I think what you are seeing happens due to a bug in macOS Mail on Mojave. We have filed the bug with Apple as rdar://45552251 but it is unclear how long it will take them to resolve the issue.

Following are the steps that should fix this problem:

    • Close Mail.app
    • Open Terminal and run the following command:

    sudo rm -rf ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail/Data/DataVaults

    • Open Mail.app

We recommend to use their feedback form to inform Apple about this problem and ask them kindly to consider investing the time to fix this bug. It may help to add the rdar number, so they know which issue you are referring to.

Please let us know if that worked.

We have a ticket for this problem. I connected this discussion with the existing ticket. That means, should this discussion get closed, it will be re-opened as soon as the ticket is closed. That way you'll stay in the loop and get notified as soon as we have news. Feel free to open a new discussions should you run into further problems or need assistance.

    Best regards,
    Steve
