im tryin to decrypt a message that was sent to me using a public key of the person who sent it to me. I just ran a test that u suggested to try in the thread and it seems to be ok, however, the message (which is an .rtf file) doesnt decrypt. Also, if I open the message, select it and press "open pgp decrypt" nothing happens, so the only way to start a decryption is to click on the file itself and select "services-decrypt" after which this code 38 thing happens

    Hi Vic,

welcome to the GPGTools support platform. Sorry you are having problems using GPG Suite.

The message you are trying to decrypt is in RTF file format. Wikipedia says: "The Rich Text Format (often abbreviated RTF) is a proprietary document file format developed by Microsoft Corporation from 1987 until 2008 for cross-platform document interchange with Microsoft products."

RTF is formatted text and the problem with formatted in case of OpenPGP messages is, it tends to destroy their structure and render them useless.

To exchange OpenPGP messages please use .txt file format. For keys you can use the key servers or if that is not an option also use .txt or .asc file format.

Could you have the author resend the message as txt and then retry to decrypt.

    Best,
    Steve
