And, I upgraded to High Sierra. I cannot create a passphrase anywhere. I used to be able to in the old version of GPG Tools. I can generate a pub/sec key and export a public key. But when I go to export my secret key it asks for my passphrase which I was NEVER asked to create. There is no window that pops up after I create my key.

Expected
I need to create a passphrase — can’t export secret key. There is NO way to create a passphrase.

welcome to the GPGTools support platform. Sorry you are having problems using GPG Suite.

The password for your OpenPGP key for which you are being asked when exporting your secret key from within GPG Keychain is set during key creation. You can see the key creation dialog when you are in GPG Keychain and press the "New" icon to create a new key.

What I am unsure about is your general setup. You mention you just recently updated to High Sierra and since then your setup no longer works. So did you have an old OpenPGP key already which you were using? Your debug log suggests you do have one secret key which was created 2018-07-14. So it's a relatively fresh key. Do you have a second mac with the old key maybe?

This KB-article explains what to do if you forgot your password or lost access to your secret key.

Best,
In the prior version of GPG Tools there was a box that said PASSPHRASE which made sense. In this new version, you have used the word PASSWORD. It was confusing to me since I wasn't sure if that was the same thing. But discovered that it is. Thank you.

kelleytag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/456939782018-07-23T08:36:58Z2018-07-23T08:36:58ZGPG Keychain: Where's the Passphrase Box?

We decided to go with "password" instead of "passphrase" a while ago. So all instances are slowly changed.

Glad, this is solved for you. I'm closing this discussion. Should you need further assistance or have questions you can re-open this discussion here or open a new one any time.

Best,
