You then have to deselect it again when decrypting the file.

I personally don't want to put passwords in the key chain by default.

This did not happen in the previous stable version 2018.1

Ho Kaytag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/454968652018-06-17T16:25:52Z2018-06-17T16:25:53ZGPG Services 1.11.4 1013 (0b04f6c) default to store passwords in macOS keychain

Can't I set the default behavior in the command line?

I've reverted to version 2017 as it is more convenient to use.

Ho Kaytag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/454968652018-06-17T22:04:55Z2018-06-17T22:04:55ZGPG Services 1.11.4 1013 (0b04f6c) default to store passwords in macOS keychain

Hi Ho,

welcome to the GPGTools support platform. Sorry you are having problems using GPG Suite.

You can set the default to not store OpenPGP password in macOS keychain in System Preferences > GPG Suite Preferences. The settings tab has a password section where you find the option you are looking for.

Let me know if that did the trick.

Best,

No, when I encrypt and decrypt there is a box with "Show typing" and "Save in keychain"

The latter is now defaulting to selected ie ticked and I have to untick it every time, ie twice to encrypt and once to decrypt to stop it going into the keychain.
In previous versions the default was the opposite ie you had to positively want it in the keychain. Both work but 2018.3 is 3 extra clicks for no reason. I assume the logic was swapped prior to compiling inadvertently. If you put passwords in the keychain then is there much point in encrypting files as the security is breached.

As I have reverted to 2017 I am uploading the way it should work.
You can check it yourself.

Ho...thanks.

Hotag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/454968652018-06-20T18:27:00Z2018-06-20T18:27:00ZGPG Services 1.11.4 1013 (0b04f6c) default to store passwords in macOS keychain

You can define the default in System Preferences > GPG Suite Preferences > Settings > Password.

Let me know if that works.

And yes, the password you stored in macOS keychain is protected with your admin password.

All the best,
That worked and I have now resumed the latest version.

Many thanks
