Apple Mail all of a sudden does not see GPG anymore. All encrypted mails are not readable anymore and new (encrypted) mails can not be written.
There is no more GPG in Mail Preferences.

Expected
Mails are decrypted as normal

Same issue! I think it might be caused by the new 10.13.5 MacOS update.

It seems not to be related to 10.13.5, same issue on 10.13.4.

Going to https://releases.gpgtools.org/nightlies/ downloading and installing
    2018-06-02 GPG Suite 2018.2 (2185n) 24.4 MB

it works again. If you want to remain on stable release channel you have to wait. Otherwise use the nightly build.

    Cheers,
    Sebastian

@steve can you clarify how soon "very soon" is? I'm not trying to bust balls ... but we've been waiting since 05/14/2018 for the EFAIL fix(es) when this was posted to the home page: "GPG Suite 2018.2 will include mitigations against this vulnerability and will be released soon."

"Soon" as in today. It's really close.

I seen't it! Any idea how long the back-porting to previous MacOS versions (specifically 10.12) is expected to take?

    Luke Le's Avatar

@gpg_dude: back porting to 10.12 might not take too long since the codebase is okayishly similar, but if any method that we currently have on High Sierra is not available, it could quickly become a huge task, so we don't want to promise anything.

@luke that's fair. I'll check back next week with fingers crossed

Isnt there a vulnerability within the Mail plugin?

@chris there is a vulnerability. if you aren't running the latest version of macOS high sierra (10.13.5) and the latest version of GPGTools for Mac (2018.2) I would recommend disabling loading remote content in Apple Mail and not clicking on anything within a GPG-encrypted message.

@Luke any update on the back-port progress?

    Dear all,

thanks for your patience. Meanwhile GPG Suite 2018.2 including efail fixes for macOS 10.13 High Sierra and GPG Suite 2018.3 backporting those fixes to macOS 10.12 Sierra have been released. We highly recommend updating to 2018.3 since it includes additional security fixes for another vulnerability which has been discovered.

I am closing this discussion. But if you need any further assistance or are seeing error messages which you are unsure about don't hesitate to file a new discussion and we will do our best to help you out.

    Have a great weekend,
    steve
