Can't access message
Dear Support:
I am working on Apple 10.7.5 I have followed the instructions sent to me below.,
I got to the point where I sent my first test email with the encryption password I typed it. When I went to retrieve it, the same password I used to send did not send. Not sure why it worked to send but not to receive.
My question is does the recipient have a different password to enter than the sender. I don't think so. Not sure what is wrong here.
Also the person I am working with sent me a file to import so that we could work together. This file would not import.
Is the password that I am supposed to be using different than the one that I typed in. I don't think so.
I would appreciate your help.

Below are the instructions my friend sent me that I have been
following along with your support documents.
1. download the software at https://gpgtools.org .
Depending on the OS that you are using (Captain, Yosemite or
Mavericks) you will have to download the appropriate version and
install it. It will automatically set itself up also with your mail
application. Next what you need to do is to create your personal
key. Pleasecarefully read the instructions first, it sounds
complicated but is very simple. Even my 86 year old mother was
capable of installing it :-).
2. Make sure that you have the password(s) for revoking the keys
you setup at a secure place in case you need it.
3. Once you have setup a private and a secure key for your me.com
mail account open the GPG keychain application. The window that
pops up there gives you the opportunity to look up keys of other
people you know (so you can securely communicate with them as well)
from the key server or you can export and import new keys.
- Just import the file with my public key from below into this
list (with the import feature) and it will show up there.
- Then export your PUBLIC (not the SECURE !!!) key only to your desktop and attach it to an email you send to me.

Dear Support:
I do not understand the difference between a secret key and a public key.
What are they are where do you find them.
I have a password of a passphrase.
When I look on the key chain I see a Key ID. Is that either the secret key or the public key you are referring to. If not perhaps you can help me find them.
So far I have sent myself a test encrypted email using my password to encrypt. But when I tried to use the same password to retrieve the sent email from my in box it failed. Clearly using my password to send the encrypted email and retrieve it has failed.
Can you kindly clarify this. In summary
Is my passphrase not the secret or public key. I assume NOT.
Is the key id that shows up on the key chain the public or the secret key for my sec/pub type. Also I can not import key information sent from a friend who wants me to use this. Thanks again for your kind help.

Dear Support:
My preference at this point would be to delete the entire program. Can you show me how to do that now. Once I have deleted the entire program from my computer we can start at the beginning and reinstall. Thank you.

After thinking this over some more I have decided that I don't want to use this program. I have deleted it from my system. However when I go to send an email I am still being given the option to ecrypt or not. I don't want to use this service at all and would like to delete this feature entirely. Can you please tell me how to do this. Thank you.

I have tried both of the uninstall procedures you recommend and neither of them work. I am still seeing the open PCP item on my emails. Can you help me get rid of the program entirely. Thank you.

Hey Roger,
welcome to the GPGTools community support platform. Sorry you are having problems using GPG Suite.
First please excuse the slow response.
Now from what you describe, it sounds like you are a new OpenPGP user. The best idea to understand the basics is to read our Getting Started Tutorial. If you have more questions after going through that KB, you are welcome to ask.
This KB-article explains how to uninstall GPGTools should you decide to uninstall.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
All the best,
steve
