Same problem here as fsteiger had in his closed thread
Signing your message failed because an unknown error has
occured. I did the steps advised over there (logging at
debug-level expert
). So far I wasn't able to reproduce
the problem after restarting Mail.app. Will report back as soon as
it fails again.
OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 (14D136)
Mail Version 8.2 (2098)
GPGMail Version 2.5 Build 1009
All the best,
Kris

Hi Kris,
so you did follow what Mento suggested?
Quoting here:
to help us fix this bug, please do the following:
3.) Run the following command in the Terminal:1.) Install the stable release from our website (https://gpgtools.org/)
2.) Add the two lines below to ~/.gnupg/gpg-agent.conf
4.) Send us the file /tmp/gpg-agent.log after the next Timeout-Error.
5.) Remove the two lines from gpg-agent.conf.
Regards, Mento
Could you please download and install our latest nightly build and see if the problem persists. That page also has sig and SHA1 to verify the download.

Hey Steve,
sorry for my long silence. I did as Mento suggested, but was so far unable to reproduce the problem with neither the stable version nor the nightly build. Everything runs smooth at the moment. Thank you for your patience and your help!
All the best,
Kristof

Kristof, chances are, this is solved in the nightly build. The fix will be included in the next stable release.
