'Services: OpenPGP - 'X' not coming up on regular text

Yosemite 10.10.1
GPG 1.2b6 (1057b)

New to this so I'm assuming i have to fix something maybe in settings somewhere...

Using text-edit, when I select a PGP key and right-click I get the Services option at bottom of window, where i can then do OpenPGP:Validate thru Decrypt. When I import a key I get no prompt or confirmation that i did so. It also doesn't show up in the keychain, which I am assuming it's supposed to?

Furthermore if I want to encrypt text, I cannot do so at all. When I highlight any normal text, the Services option doesn't come up at all.

   meant to say in the beginning that in TextEdit when I add a public key and highlight, I do get the Services option, but if it's a regular message I do not.

   Hi James,

   could you please post the exact steps of the actions you take when you are trying to import the key.

   Is it a public key? Does that public key also exist on the key servers? In that case I could try to reproduce the problem.

   Please check if all GPGServices options are activated: https://gpgtools.tenderapp.com/kb/gpgservices-faq/how-do-i-activate...

   If something might be missing from the right-click options, please do double check under e.g. TextEdit > Services from the menu bar.

   You write you are on OS X 10.10.1. You might want to update to 10.10.3 which has a ton of important security fixes from apple.
