Ups, something went wrong. GPG was found on your system but
there seems to be a problem with the config file. Please contact
the GPGTools team ...

And so here I am contacting you like a good robot. What next?
Download and just import my keys? Have an encrypted message that
really needs opening. Thanks for any help you can give.

Seeing you need this pretty quickly I'd propose having a quick
screen sharing session with TeamViewer.
Let me know if you wanna try that.

Luke Letag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/129752552012-01-17T21:07:59Z2012-01-17T21:07:59ZGPG config error (web)

Hi,

WOW, quick response! I seem to have gotten it to work by going
through and downloading the various tools as in the FAQ. Sorry for
bother - should have RTFM first. Still have an issue but think that
the sender used the wrong key. Thank you very much and hope that I
haven't caused too much harm by being a noob. Get a bit anxious
sometimes ;-)

solved. And that reading the FAQ did indeed help is a good sign. We
are always thinking how we could improve the user experience. Some
time went into documentation but there is lots of room for
improvement of course.

If you need any further help, feel free to re-open this
discussion.

Cheers and happy encrypting :)

Great it works for you now! Could you describe the steps you've
taken to fix this?

Luke Letag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/129752552012-01-17T23:20:28Z2012-01-17T23:20:28ZGPG config error (web)

Hi,

Sure enough, no problem. Started looking at the FAQ page and
found items specific to the Mac:

What if I update Mac OS X? Will this break GPGMail?
First downloaded "GPG Preferences Pane" with no luck. Then went to
next level and downloaded "GPGTools" and everything came back -
keys, and could actually get to the GPG Keychain Access app. In the
end, avoided having to reload from the installer and import the old
keys. Start small and work up to the big stuff so to speak.

Hope that helps.

thanks for the info. From the error message i can tell
you've had GPG already installed.
Can you remember how you did that?
MacPorts maybe? Self compiled?

Luke Letag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/129752552012-01-18T05:02:04Z2012-01-18T05:02:04ZGPG config error (web)

Good Morning,
