GPGServices Encrypt/sign failed! Code = 0 (was: GPG mail automatically adds Bcc to self)
(I think) I'm having the same problems as described here: http://support.gpgtools.org/discussions/problems/22042-gpg-mail-aut... Funnily enough, I was using GPGTools for years without any problems. The problem first appeared with the upgrade to Yosemite and the subsequent update of GPGTools. I downloaded 1.5b5 just today and did an uninstall, reboot, install of it but I'm still experiencing those annoying bcc to myself with every email I reply to. Any help much appreciated!

Update: This happens with all sending of mails, not only replies.
Some more information on my hardware: I'm using a MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2008, 2,53 GHz with 8GB)
Regrettably I can't give step-by-step instructions to reproduce the issue, I simply can't get rid of it on this machine. I know this all is probably not very helpful but I'd be happy to provide more information to debug the issue.

Hi Peter,
could you hop on our live chat: https://www.hipchat.com/gi8zHW4K3
Could you provide jpg or png screenshots of what's happening if you e.g. write a test mail to teamATgpgtoolsDOTorg
Did I understand correctly that all mail you reply to lands in your email inbox after sending the reply?
All the best,
steve

Hi Steve,
I'm currently at my work machine but will provide screenshots ASAP. Can we schedule a live chat for Monday?
Support Staff 4 Posted by Steve on 13 Feb, 2015 04:28 PM
Just hop on the channel. I can't promise we'll be there, but just keep the browser open and see if soneone from the team shows up.
Screenshots will help. We're not in a rush, just provide the info whenever you find some time, and ...
... enjoy your weekend! steve

We talked on live chat and as it happens often if you want to demostrate a problem, this was not reproducible.
So let's do the following:
Ideally find a pattern that triggers this problem.
If this problem persists, also test if it also happens with GPGMail deactivated:
Restart mail and check in Mail.app > Preferences if you still see GPGMail. It should be gone.
Kindly,
steve

I was trying to do my homework and test with encrypted mails when I noticed that encryption doesn't work for me. It's greyed out in the "new message" window (yes, I have the recipient's key).
When trying to "Encrypt Selection to New Window" from an existing email, after selecting the recipient I get an error message: "Encrypt/sign failed! Code = 0".
I will now uninstall GPGTools and do further testing …

I now spent some time without GPGMail installed and I don't see any BCC sneaking into my sent mails any more.
There is one more thing I'll have to investigate: I recently put my private key onto two machines and changed the expiration date on one of them, pushing the public key to the servers. I wonder if this might cause troubles (see above) when public and privat keys get out of sync (well, can they? I have no idea …)
Best

Hi Peter,
it should not cause any problems, however it's best if you update the key from the keyserver using "Update from keyserver" in GPG Keychain. That way the expiration date is reflected on both computers.
If you don't do that, you might be confused after a while if your key says it's expired, but you clearly remember having updated the expiration date.
Hope that helps.

Hi there,
I think my problem is solved :) (NB: before the latest update to GPG Suite Beta 6)
It appears, an expired subkey of one of my private keys caused this strange behavior.
I have two private keys in my keychain with one subkey each. Recently I copied those two keys to my work machine and renewed (on January 20) the expired key2 via the GPG Keychain app and uploaded the new key to the key server. I can't remember how or when I updated key2 on my home machine but the result was that the expiration dates of the main key2s matched on both machines but the subkey2 not.
Then my trouble started until I explicitly renewed subkey2 on my home machine (on March 11) via the GPG Keychain app.
Seems like a weird error for a strange setting?!
Best
Peter

Hi Peter,
sounds like things are working. We'll if you are using the same key on more than a single machine, I'd suggest to just export your key from the machine on which you updated it at first and then import on the second machine.
https://gpgtools.tenderapp.com/kb/gpg-keychain-faq/backup-or-transf...
I'm still a bit confused as to why the renewed subkey would not get exported with your key. Could you retest that? Meaning, export a working key (including sec key) and importing on the second machine. Also upload that key to the key servers.
Then please see if any issues using that key on the second machine (after importing it) remain.
Kindly,
steve
