On a similar vein. Not a totally forgotten passphrase.
If you are pretty sure what the password is, but have mixed up the case, is there a way to decrypt the passphrase ?

I have found no answers as to what to do if you forget your password.

HI Niall, Jimbo and BO,
wow three users all with forgotton passphrase issues. We really need to take better precautions to ensure those cases are covered.
We have a KB-article covering this issue. Please visit the following link and let me know if you have more questions after going through that article: http://support.gpgtools.org/kb/faq-gpg-keychain-access/how-to-revok...
@Jimbo: as for mixed up parts of the passphrase or mixed up case sensitive letters, there's no other options to keep trying. Open Mail.app select and encrypted mail, pinentry will showup and give you three tries before giving up. After that if you want another go, close and re-open mail and start from the top.
The KB also shows how to retrieve your passphrase if you had it stored in the OS X keychain.
All the best,
steve
