Which of our tools is giving you problems? (possible options:
GPGMail, GPGServices, GPG Keychain Access, …)

What’s the version of that tool? (read the following

is with the mail I'm receiving not decrypting. How would I find out
which took this is?

ok this is very sparse info. We are not the devs of Enigmail nor
Thunderbird. Enigmail devs can be found here https://www.enigmail.net/support/index.php
.

From the error message itself it sounds like

either the secret key is missing (check in GPG Keychain Access
if that is indeed the case)

or the mail was encrypted with the wrong public key (compare
fingerprints of keys with author of the mail to make sure the right
pub key was used - find your fingerprint in GPG Keychain Access,
double click your sec/pub key).

All the best, steve

Stevetag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/314710732014-02-06T15:15:21Z2014-02-06T15:15:21Z"OpenPGP Security Info Error - secret key needed to decrypt message"

Ok thanks. What exactly do I do on my keychain to find out if
the secret key is missing and if it is missing what do I do next?
Thanks Steve

Open GPG Keychain Access

If you see any entry with "sec/pub" in the type column that
means that is your own key pair containing public and secret
key.

If you have a lot of keys you can also tick the option to "only
show secret keys".

Stevetag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/314710732014-03-19T14:12:07Z2014-03-19T14:12:07Z"OpenPGP Security Info Error - secret key needed to decrypt message"

No further user feedback. Closing.
