Signing creates 2 signatures
Is it normal when signing a file, that two sig files are created? Which one do I have to give out? Or even both?

Hey Markus, no that is not normal. If I recall correctly, this is a bug that we already squashed in the nightly version of GPGServices.
Could you please visit http://nightly.gpgtools.org/ and download the latest GPGTools_Installer-trunk.dmg file (which contains the GPGServices nightly). Or try the GPGServices nightly only.
Run that on your system and see if the problem persists.
All the best,
steve

First I tried the GPGServices version. It finished by creating 2 signatures again. The Growl notification said, signed 2 files, but only one was selected.
Afterwards, I tried the full installer and the behavior is exactly the same.

When I compare both signatures, they look almost the same. Only some chars at the end are different. Which of those files is the "correct" one to use? The first or the seconds?

Markus, could you open Console.app and try again? See if it spits out any error or info about GPGServices. Please attach the output to this discussion. Feel free to clean the log if it contains anything sensitive and also you can set this discussion to "private". Then it will no longer be public and only core team, you and EnTP (the company hosting this support platform) will be able to view the information.
All the best,
steve

Also, I have created a ticket for this. Looks like a bug to me. I can reproduce the problem. We'll further investigate.
Cheers :)

Hello, I did post that already three times. This "forum" sais it has still to be moderated, but it looks like it does not or there may be a bug. If you don't mind, I would mail it, then? You could send me one and I'd reply.

Hey Markus, not sure what was going on, when you tried sending the attachment. Servers have bad days too, you know. ;)
Could you simply retry adding a reply with your attachment to this discussion?
Cheers, steve

Sure, I'll do so.... but it really looks like, this output won't help you out:

FYI: I also activated the debug mode, but there was no more output than already posted.

I have forwarded the log info to the ticket. Let's see if it helps...

Markus, could you please (again) test the latest nightly? Nobody from the team was able to reproduce this with the latest version.
I had the problem myself but it is fixed for me.

Hi Steve,
I've just leeched the latest build and it still generates two files. New console.log attached.
14 Posted by Markus Zeller on 13 Aug, 2012 11:35 AM
BTW, the Mail plugin is still not working on ML (10.8). Maybe you could update your installer not to install it until it is done?
Support Staff 15 Posted by Steve on 13 Aug, 2012 01:37 PM
Really? Still not fixed? :S
I was able to reproduce the problem at first. Hm, fixed for me now. Very strange. Thanks for the new log. I have attached the log to the according ticket and re-opened the ticket. I was happy, we'd finally have squashed that nasty bug. Too early...

Hi Markus,
do you have any system plugins installed which might 'cause trouble with this?
Like SIMBL maybe or others?
It's very strange that GPGServices thinks two files where selected even though you just selected one.

Hmmm.. not that I knew using any of those..

This is really wicked.
I know this is much to ask, but could you try to create a separate user, install GPGTools and try to sign there?
That might exclude the chance that it's a system configuration.

Ok, I'll do that for you, but later this evening.

Sorry for late answer, but unfortunately the same.
Now installed a fresh Mountain Lion.

Argh! :S
That's bad news. And you are using the nightly of GPGServices and that still creates 2 signatures?
Have you created a test user to further test this?
24 Posted by Markus Zeller on 24 Aug, 2012 05:22 PM
Yep, I just installed the latest nightly instead of the "official stable".
Support Staff 25 Posted by Steve on 24 Aug, 2012 05:28 PM
That's good. What about the test user? Could you setup a test user (either user or admin - depending on the account on which you are seeing the issue)?
