Installation failed (web) - Networked home
The latest Installation (GPGTools-20111127.dmg) failed (message: Ups. ...). Maybe because I use a network account?

We've had some other users which run into problems on networked homes and we're investigating them at the moment. Sorry.
Could you check your Console.app if you see any error output?

Just tested the latest installer (version 2011.12.24) on a machine (10.6) with networked homes and it seems to work. Could you verify that this version works for you too?

Hi,
I can check that, when I am at work at the networked machine next week.

Thanks. Waiting for your feedback.

Unfortunately it still won't install. When installing, it says (in german) Ups, something wrong with the config file. When opening the Mail Program, it says GPG_CONFIG_ERROR_TITLE, GPG_CONFIG_ERROR_MESSAGE. I am also unable to open the Mail Preferences. After uninstalling GPGTools, Mail works normally.
Installing without Mail-component gives the same Error message, but Mail is working after telling that the plugin will not be activated. Running the keychain program gives the same config file error message.
Installing on the same machine but local user works.
Best, Nico

Could you please attach the installer log ( http://support.gpgtools.org/kb/faq/why-did-the-installation-fail ) and maybe "General GPGTools System Diagnostics" ( http://support.gpgtools.org/kb/faq/how-can-i-generate-debugging-inf... )? I'd would like to fix this asap but it's a bit hard without having a system to reproduce the issue...

Hi Alex,
I have run the Installer and the debugTool. I hope this helps.

Thanks you - but the outputs seems to be cropped. Could you attach it as a file instead?

Hi Nico, I'll try to have a close look at this next weekend to finally close this networked home issue.
Maybe we can start a shared screen session using http://www.teamviewer.com/?
Best regards, Alex

Might be resolved since we're installing GPGMail now to the system root "/Library/Mail/Bundles". Could you please remove all GPGMail installations and run the installer from http://nightly.gpgtools.org/?
15 Posted by Nico on 28 Feb, 2012 07:51 PM
I'll be in the office March 13. I will try a new installation then.
Best, Nico

Sorry for replying late. I tried to install the dmg and it didn't finish. Installing single components worked. But I cannot create keys and it has 0k files in the .gnupg directory.

Hi Nico,
Thank you for your feedback.
Could you please send us the logfile? See http://support.gpgtools.org/kb/faq/why-did-the-installation-fail
Interesting case. Please let us know. We'll integrate this check for empty databases to the installer then.
We're using a support system that automatically replies to the original sender :/
Best regards, Alex

I copied the .gnupg directory from my laptop to the network-machine. The installation of the actual package (2012-03-18) then worked - but!...
It encrypts messages but it doesn't accept my passphrase anymore (that might be a different problem). So I tried to built a new key and received error messages. I tried it with the command line and I receive error messages like this:
iMacBig:.gnupg nreichelt$ gpg --import ../Desktop/84EEF7FC.asc
gpg: lock not made: link() failed: Operation not supported
gpg: can't lock `/Network/Servers/appleserver.private/Users/nreichelt/.gnupg/pubring.gpg'
gpg: lock not made: link() failed: Operation not supported
gpg: can't lock `/Network/Servers/appleserver.private/Users/nreichelt/.gnupg/secring.gpg'
gpg: Fehler beim Schreiben des Schlüsselbundes `/Network/Servers/appleserver.private/Users/nreichelt/.gnupg/pubring.gpg': General error
gpg: Schlüssel 84EEF7FC: Öffentlicher Schlüssel "[User-ID nicht gefunden]" importiert
gpg: Fehler beim Lesen von `../Desktop/84EEF7FC.asc': General error
gpg: import from `../Desktop/84EEF7FC.asc' failed: General error
gpg: Anzahl insgesamt bearbeiteter Schlüssel: 0
gpg: importiert: 1 (RSA: 1)
So somehow the .gnupg directory seems to create the trouble, when it is a networked directory.
Best, Nico

Hi Nico,
leider können wir Networked Homes zur Zeit nicht wirklich gut testen.
Wär aber interessant wenn du eine Lösung dafür findest.
23 Posted by Alex on 15 Apr, 2012 04:35 PM
Hi Nico,

Alles in allem erstmal positive Nachrichten. Beim Mail-Programm brauch's vielleicht noch etwas Fine-Tuning.
Gruß, Nico
