what you write does not sound, like GPGTools is the culprit
here. I'd rather think that this is a problem with your system.
GPGTools does not interfere with mail.app settings like
auto-complete neither would it affect apps like sugarsync.

I'd suggest installing Onyx on your system and running all it's
clean up mechanisms and permission repair things. See if that
helps.

Besides that, you forgot to fill out the OS X version. Are you
on 10.7? 10.7.4?

You should not have to reinstall OS X, at least if you are
trying to fix any problems related to GPGTools. That is like going
to your basement to get the sledgehammer to open up your breakfast
egg. ;)

I'd suggest also to open up console.app and see if it gives you
any useful error messages when running mail.app and/or
sugarsync.

Hope this helps,

mac mail auto complete address started not working immediatly
upon install of gpgTools. mail, preferences, composing, auto
complete option will not take a check.

permissions repaired, library rebuilt, os x reinstalled, mac
tech could baffled by issue.

sugarsync program also effected. crashes on load. it was
completely uninstalled & reinstalled & still crashes.

no other programs were installed prior to mail auto complete
address failure & sugarsync crashing.

steve otag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/164419672012-06-09T09:19:19Z2012-06-09T09:19:54Zmac os x 10.6.8 systemwide problems caused by GpgTools install

I'm baffled as well and I don't believe this is related to
GPGTools. If you uninstall GPGTools with the uninstaller that comes
with the GPGTools Installer.dmg there won't be anything
GPGTools-related left on your system.

I rather believe we have a combination of several issues at
hand. If sugarsync crashes, I'd sugest you open up console.app,
clear the current view. Then start sugarsync. See if any error
occur in console. next, I'd contact the sugarsync dev and hand them
the console.log. They'll point you in the right direction.

If GPGTools is the bad guy in this, you'll also see an error in
the console output.

As for auto-complete, I'm not sure about that. Have you checked
Mail.app > Windows > Previous recipients?

Are people re-appearing after you sent them a mail?

all the best,
steve

PS: Any chance updating to 10.7? Then you'd be able to enjoy
GPGMail 2.0 sweetness.

Stevetag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/164419672012-06-09T16:59:17Z2012-06-09T16:59:17Zmac os x 10.6.8 systemwide problems caused by GpgTools install

hi,

i uninstralled gpgTools with uninstaller dmg.

here.

Stevetag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/164419672012-06-13T01:25:56Z2012-06-13T01:25:56Zmac os x 10.6.8 systemwide problems caused by GpgTools install

hi,

i could not find anything explicitly linked to gpgTools that was
causing my sugarsync & mail problem. I did get sugarsync up
& running but not my auto complete address in mac mail 10.6.8
& neither could their mac level one tech so they refunded my
$50. having to address from an address book entry is the least of
my problems.

I have to admit that I really appreciate all the time you spent
explaining what to look for & the explanation that a gpgTools
uninstalled everything without having altered any system or program
files. gpg mail encryption plug in worked just fine for me before I
uninstalled it thinking it had done something to the other two
programs. I guess the problems were related to something else like
a funky system update or something. who knows?

anyway, thanks again for the great support. great support is
harder to find & it represents a software company that not only
cares about their product & clients but shows that the team
& the company has not become complacent.

my compliments to you for your great support. much
appreciated.

sincerely, steve o

steven ottensteintag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/164419672012-06-13T08:21:12Z2012-06-13T08:21:12Zmac os x 10.6.8 systemwide problems caused by GpgTools install

Hey Steven, thanks for your kind words. We've come a long way
with the GPGTools project. Coming from a rather disarranging
mailing list, this support platform here was a great
improvement.

We are thankful for any feedback. If there are problems with
GPGTools they need to be addressed. Due to our small team size, we
can't give ETAs but try to address all issues - and believe me,
there are more than enough of those.

Glad this turned out with a refund for you. Not sure how else we
can help with auto-complete. Didn't you say that it now
re-populates? So over time at least that problem should fix
itself.

Thanks so much for your kind words. It's great to wake up and
see positive feedback between all those trouble reports. :)

Have a nice day,
