    Hey Jean,

what you want is basically symmectric encryption (to use GPGServices with people who don't have a public key). That is currently not supported by GPGServices. But we already have a ticket for that feature request:

    http://gpgtools.lighthouseapp.com/projects/67607/tickets/74-symmetr...

So what's missing, is a developer to take care of this.

    All the best,
    steve

    Steve,
Yes I think you understood the question but unfortunately I did not get your response even after consulting the links you gave me. I am not a specialist just a simple user and my needs are very basic: encrypt a file or a document by a simple command and to send this file or doc to Google drive or to a correspondent as I used to do it with PGP several years ago. So I would be very grateful if you could help me to find the way to reach my expectations.
    Cordially,
    Jean

The best and safest way would be to convince your colleges to create a key pair of their own so you can use GPGServices to encrypt the files with their public keys. Then you could upload the files to any storage service you wanna use. They will only be usable by the people you included during the encryption process.

If your colleges don't have a key pair there is currently no solution from the GPGTools side that would work for you.

We have this request on our radar, but no capacity to work on it currently.

    All the best,
    steve

Why isn't it useful? Your friends don't want to setup a key pair?

    Steve,
Not all my friends, especially those who are already fighting with their computer.
Also most of people need to get a very simple way to get invited to create a key and personally I don't know this way.
Most of the time they want to enter a password (sent to them by phone) and click. No hassle! And I say that because I used to try PGP with people since the beginning of PGP....
    Cordially.

PS: but I appreciate your effort to help me.

Hmm, sending a password via unencrypted mail - I'm not so sure if then it's really smart to encrypt at all.

But I totally agree: symmetric encryption would be a very important feature and great to have.

And your interest and effort to use encryption with your friends is appreciated alike. :)

    Hi jean,

if you update GPGServices from https://nightly.gpgtools.org you should now be able to encrypt files using a password only.

    Hope that helps.
