GPG Mail: Cannot encrypt email with Public key
Hello,
For my personal understanding.
How is it that I cannot create encrypt en email to a recipient which I have the public key?
It only works if I send from one of my emails from which I have created a private/public key.
Sorry if I am wrong but I thought a private key was only used for encryption. Can someone explain me?

Hi Houbacrypt,
sorry to hear you are running into trouble using GPG Mail.
The requirement besides having a public key of the recipient when using GPG Mail is, that you also have a sec/pub key pair for the account you are sending from, since sent emails are also encrypted with your own public key. Otherwise you would be unable to read your sent encrypted messages.
Does that make sense?
Best regards,
Steve

Thank you for answering me.
I did not understand that my emails were also encrypted with my own public key.
It makes sense now, thank you
