we are sorry for your bad experience.
It appears that there‘s a stale lock file in your
~/.gnupg
folder. You should be able to see them by running:

ls -l ~/.gnupg/*.l{o,}ck

Please remove any lock files you find and re-try the installation.

Hope that helps.

Luke Letag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/489105332020-12-17T12:46:15Z2020-12-17T12:46:15ZAnyone else having this happen when installing/updating on MacOS Big Sur (11.1)

That fixed it. Removed the mentioned file, and the install went without a hitch. Any idea what would have caused the random lock file?

John R.tag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/489105332020-12-17T14:27:28Z2020-12-17T14:27:28ZAnyone else having this happen when installing/updating on MacOS Big Sur (11.1)

It’s very rare that this happens, but could occur if your computer crashes while gpg is still running

Luke Le
