Passphrase never works - not accapted in an case! :-(
I have just installed the PGP-Suite recently on my MAC.
I was trying to use my passphrase to export my public key for days now. But it does not accept my passphrase.
In fact it does not accept my passphrase at all as soon as it is required.
Also tried to uninstall. Therefore I also need this passphrase. - Not accepted! No matter what I am doing.
Googled the problem but nothing helpful except that this problem seems one which was also an issue in 2017.
So what can i do to solve this problem or at least to uninstall this not working app ??

Hi Fred,
welcome to the GPGTools support platform. Sorry you are having problems using GPG Suite.
Can you create a second test key with any email and name and use a simple passphrase like
123
. No need to upload that key to the key server - it is just for testing purposes. Then open Text Edit and try to encrypt and sign and then decrypt and verify some random text snippet.
Does that work as expected? Had you stored your passphrase during your initial key creation? Are there special characters in your password?
All the best,
Steve

Hi Steve
Thanks for your quick response.
I have tested it like you suggested and it did work.
As soon as I use a so called "special character", it does not work anymore.
But what is the passphrase for if I cannot use any special characters if it is easy to hack?

The strength of a password is not determined by the use of special characters.
We recommend to use a password manager. That way you do not have to worry about very long passwords.
