Hi been using GPG suite for my PGP needs and for the first time today had this error message. The message is persistent and I'm unable to decrypt anything. I can encrypt but I can't decrypt my own encryptions. This leads me to believe its an issue with GPG tools or with the validity of the key?

Have attempted to sending the public key to the key server but still having the issue.

Key is not revoked and is not expired.

Anyone had this issue before and found a fix?
Thanks - A

    Hi Alex,

welcome to the GPGTools support platform. Sorry you are having problems using GPG Suite.

Which version of macOS and GPG Suite are you running? Can you check if there are pending updates for either.

Can you please give exact steps how you create the encrypted message.

    All the best,
    Steve

    Hi Steve

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I have since resolved the issue by fully updating my GPG Tools… my bad..
    Sorry for the run around.

    FYI

The version of macOS im using is : 10.15.4 (19E287)
I updated GPG Keychain, the version I’m now using is : Version 1.6 (1619) I was on 1.4, this has since fixed the issue.
The steps I was taking to cause the error were the following :

    Receiving encrypted message
Copy and paste text into TextEdit
Select all > Services > Decrypt selection
I then get a long wait and the ‘wheel of death’
Before the pop up saying it was unable to be decrypted ( Error 152 )

I thought at first that this was my correspondent not encrypting properly however I repeated the fault when I :

In Text Edit write myself a message
Encrypt for myself with my public key
    Then upon successful encryption:
Select all > Services > Decrypt selection, I then get the long wait the ‘rainbow wheel’ before the same pop up.

As I say updating the app fixed the issue, but this is what I was doing to create the error before update.

Thanks and have a good day

    All the best
    Alex

Thanks for the update and detailed feedback. Good to hear things are working as expected now.

When you are using GPG Services with TextEdit, make sure you are using txt format and not rtf as that will break OpenPGP messages.

You may want to enable automatic update checks to make sure you have the latest GPG Suite installed on your system. You can do that in System Preferences > GPG Suite > Settings > Updates.
