You had a lot of time to update and allow for a smooth transition. You chose not to, which is a disgrace, both morally and professionally, with quite possibly legal implications.

The very least you could have done is e-mailing your registered, paying users to say "we are not ready yet." But also this you chose not to.

You may be incurring substantial liability here.

This is a paid product; for how much weeks will you say that next week we'll get the upgrade? Shame.

Maurizio Loretitag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/477930232019-11-04T13:43:59Z2019-11-04T13:43:59ZCatalina update

I do share the complaints and anger in this chat. The whole thing is and was poorly handled. But what makes me angry is that encryption is a key value for online safety and freedom of speech. What GPGtools is doing by this is not just creating a little problem for some users who can easily use another way. It is endangering people who need encryption and compromising a whole movement. Some people may lose their lives when encryption does not work. To endanger peoples safety who need it the most is—despite all understanding for mismanagement—a disgrace.

GFtag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/477930232019-11-04T14:41:12Z2019-12-01T16:47:10ZCatalina update

Waiting too, but probably the cause has to do with the development of an add-on over a proprietary Apple Mail app with a changing and undocumented internal API. That makes updates hard to plan and deliver. I expect an explanation, but for the moment the first I expect is a beta and then the final usable software. In the meanwhile Thunderbird does the work for me.

leandrotag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/477930232019-11-04T14:54:42Z2019-11-04T14:54:43ZCatalina update

This seems like it's back the how it was before we paid for 'support'. Used to be updates for new OS releases were long-delayed and infrequent. Then you introduced the paid 'support' plan with promises of more timely updates. So we paid. And we're still not getting timely updates.

Or even responses to queries. I'm thinking you should either
1) Respond to queries
2) Provide timely updates or
3) refund support plan $$

This no updates, no replies, and still collecting money is unacceptable.

David Simmonstag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/477930232019-11-04T15:16:52Z2019-11-04T15:16:53ZCatalina update

Same here and I agree with everything above. I bet the employees work quite hard to fix this and the mismanagement will not happen again. I think it is important to help people providing online security to make a living. This is a systemic problem which includes the employees as well. Not just those who would like or have to encrypt. In other words: We do not need a shitstorm, we need a solution. If people like depsr want to quit, please go. But to repeat and repeat and repeat what has been said is nothing more that taking a piss like a dog next to another one.

GFtag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/477930232019-11-05T13:20:45Z2019-11-05T13:20:46ZCatalina update

I’m afraid you didn’t get it.I’m paying customer, not a dog taking piss.
I also know something about security and gpg/pgp encryption.I also know there was a Catalina developers beta. release. So if this situation means anything, than it is bad (i mean very bad) time and release management. Somebody just fucked up.

All we need is they take responsibility, apologize, make a promise to make it right with specific date and stand by it. That’s what a man should do. Otherwise they are just dogs taking piss on their customers.

Peace out.

depesrtag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/477930232019-11-05T14:03:03Z2019-11-05T14:03:04ZCatalina update

@depsr: Well, I am sorry that you misunderstood my comment and thought you were meant. The "dog" reference was not linked to you but to people who repeat the same things again and again. I am with you and have the same anger. The only thing I would emphasize that there is a difference between what people are and what they do. If you read my comment I say that a certain behavior – repeating – is LIKE a common known behavior of a dog. Nobody IS a dog, but some behave like dogs.

In short: 1. You are not meant 2. Nobody is a dog, but some behave like dogs.

GFtag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/477930232019-11-05T20:19:27Z2019-11-08T20:10:04ZCatalina update

GPG mail breaks every OS upgrade. They do their best to get it out in a timely manner. If Gpg mail is important then you should hold off on upgrading to Catalina.

Side note, you should be focusing your negative energy at Apple. This seems like a fundamental piece of functionality missing from their email program/ OS for a company that cares about our “privacy” .

Danimaltag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/477930232019-11-05T21:54:59Z2022-01-07T22:21:49ZCatalina update

Complaints about the "tardy" implementation of GPG for Apple's new OS seem to me unfair. GPG has a very small staff and - based on my experiences over several years of help from them - they are uniformly concerned, dedicated, hardworking and doing the best work they can with the resources available. In the event of need during the "gap" time, there are always free accounts on protonmail and Enigmail + Thunderbird.

KAC

PS: I have no affiliation with GPG or any other encryption service or other commercial enterprise. This is just my personal opinion.

kacomesstag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/477930232019-11-06T07:25:40Z2019-11-06T07:25:42ZCatalina update

Nobody is questioning their hard work, dedication etc, not even their implementation. (btw, GPG as far as I know is an open source implementation of PGP, so hopefully they're just using existing implementation)

Nevertheless we're just asking one question, and they've never given answer to it. That's the thing everybody is pissed about.

So please GPG Tools, just be fair, be a man and give us a date for a new release. It's the least you can do.

depesrtag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/477930232019-11-12T03:18:48Z2019-11-12T03:18:48ZCatalina update

Hi all,
