While I'm not sure it's strictly a GPGMail issue, I I and others have experienced numerous instances of Mail "spinning" and not displaying messages. The known issue @ https://gpgtools.org/sequoia#known-issues mentions some causes for this such as Mail losing connection to the extension and that disabling and re-enabling the extension fixes the issue. However, I've found there are times when this behavior happens where that is not enough to restore the issue (at least not quickly) but if that is combined with manually gpg-agent (/usr/local/MacGPG2/bin/gpgconf --kill all) in between disabling/re-enabling which forces it to be re-spawned the recovery time seems to much faster.

What did you expect instead

While I'd love to expect Mail.app to be less buggy overall, in this case I'd settle for the recovery to be faster and more reliable.

Describe steps leading to the problem.

Get Mail.app+GPGMail to spin on a message. No idea how and honestly sometimes it seems to happen with non-encrypted/signed messages but maybe the issue is first triggered by trying to view a signed and/or encrypted message and then when you navigate away from it to a "regular" message Mail.app is still spinning because it hasn't "finished" with the previous message? That is somewhat speculative on my part.
