I have a public/private keypair with multiple IDs attached. When signing/encrypting, I want to be able to select which ID to use with gpgmail, and also designate a default. So, for example, I could have my email client on my work machine sign/encrypt using my key with the me@myworkemail.com ID, and on my personal machine I could have the client set up to sign/encrypt, using the same key but the me@mypersonalemail.org ID.

Currently gpgmail uses only the ID designated as "primary" on my key, and I don't see any option to select another.

Is there a way around this? I looked at the gpgmail hidden settings article, but only saw a way to add add'l IDs to a public key.

trevortag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/428155992017-06-21T15:39:51Z2017-06-21T15:39:51Zgpgmail key with multiple user ids - how can I choose which one is used as signing id

Hi Trevor,

welcome to the GPGTools support platform. Sorry you are having problems using GPG Suite.

The behavior you describe is the expected behavior. The primary user ID is used for the signature.

Maybe the experts at the gnupg users mailling list have further suggestions.

As a workaround you could use separate keys.

All the best,
