Actually i do want to encrypt a virtual drive, what connects my
Mac to my online NAS. As I want to use my files on Mac, at home,
and on windows, at work, I can't use the encrypted virtual file of
OSX :-(. I'm using GPG for my emails for a wile and found that i
can use it to encrypt files and even folders. thats great. thought
i can't encrypt my virtual drive itself i just thought about
creating one folder containing all data instead and decrypt this
one. So far so good. But for some reason gpg saves a encrypted
copy. and After decrypting another copy of the original file/
folder. Why? is it possible to have just one folder what i can
encrypt and decrypt all over again without having multiple copies
of the file/folder?

is there a way to encrypt and decrypt files/folders on iPhone,
though I would love to use it for dropbox too?

thanks

Mttag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/400403152016-06-09T17:28:39Z2016-06-09T17:28:39Zencrypting drive / files

Hi Mt,

OpenPGP isn't the best solution and not really recommended.
Instead you should look into encrypted disk images. This is
possible on OS X using Disk Utility. But I am not sure about
compatibility for cross platform, let alone iOS.

BoxCryptor may do what you are looking for, but I have no
personal experience using that service.

When you decrypt the decrypted file is created. If you
re-encrypt and again decrypt, another folder is created. That
behavior is expected.

All the best,
