GPG Mail: Support for encrypted subjects (feature request)
Hi,
I'm one of those users patiently wating for years for GPGMail to support encryption/decryption of email subjects. I'm aware that there are several open tickets and closed discussions about this topic. Are there any updates on this?
Thanks

Hi nanobox,
thanks for taking the time to get in touch about this problem.
We already have an open feature request to add encrryption to the subject.
The problem is that on macOS Mail encrypted messages are not indexed for search. So if the subject was encrypted as well, that would render encrypted messages completely unsearchable.
I've added your comments and vote to it. The number of votes is one factor that helps us to determine what feature to add next.
Unfortunately there's no workaround for this problem at the time being. We're very sorry for that. This discussion will be updated however, when the requested feature is available.
And sadly so far, we have not started work on this
All the best,
Steve

Hi Steve,
thanks for the reply. I see your points, and I realize it's a hard problem to solve. Mainly I just wanted to signal that there are users out there waiting for a solution.
That being said, personally I'm not that much interested in encrypting subjects myself. My main problem is that people are increasingly encrypting subjects, which makes my inbox pretty hard to navigate sometimes. I can't search properly, and in addition to that I have to deal with messages with ellipses or "Encrypted Subject" etc. as subject line.
Best

I am aware as I am experiencing the same.
Not sure how soon we will be able to look into this though.
Have a great weekend,
Steve
