Hi Ash,
welcome to the GPGTools support platform. Sorry to hear you are having problems using GPG Suite.
If the text was encrypted with your public key, the passphrase is the passphrase / password (used synonymously) you set during key creation.
As there is also the possibility a password was used by the message auther you would have to ask them about the password.
