Choose public key for encryption
GPGMail 2.5 Build 1009
My contact has a public key which is not assigned to one of his email addresses. So when I import it, I cannot send an encrypted mail to him.
What did you expect instead
I would have to select first his email addresse in the mail.app and then as no public is found it would be necessary to manually select a public key for the recipient for the encryption.
Describe steps leading to the problem.
- select recipient
- status for encryption is grexed out "for the following address
no public has been found"
- email cannot be send encrypted despite the fact I know which key to use
no other plugins installed.

Hi JJ,
thanks for getting in touch about GPG Suite, and for passing this suggestion along! We have an open request, to allow manual selection of a public key, if no key exists for a recipient, and I've added your comments and vote to it (one of the factors that helps determine what we add to our software is the number of people that have requested a given change). We'll keep your input in mind as we plan future GPG Suite releases; for the time being at least I'm sorry to disappoint!
There's a workaround described in this KB-article.
Let me know if that worked out for you.
All the best,
steve

Hi Steve,
Thanks so much. The workaround works perfect for me. Odd enough that I didn't find it earlier.
Thanks for adding my comment to the feature request.
JJ

Perfect. Glad, this is solved for you. Hm, the Knowledge Base is always worth visiting but maybe the search function is not as great as it could be. I've improved the keywords a little, so hopefully that helps for future searches.
I'm closing this discussion. If you need further assistance or have questions you can re-open this discussion here or open a new one any time.
