Hi,

I hope this question is ok to ask...

I use GPGTools on a Mac and its great. Thanks!

A 2014 discussion on here says that the Apple Store does not like the License that PGP has so porting GPGTools is problematic.

My question is what are your suggestions for encrypted mail on iOS devices (both iPad and iPhone). I've seen pages on the internet that I've glanced at quickly talking about being able to add your "certificate" to the iOS device and then it can decrypt messages. I didn't read them carefully but my assumption is when they used "certificate" they were talking about an X.509 PKI certificate and not PGP / GPG private and public keys.

There are apps in the app store as well. A quick search finds "PGP Everywhere" and "iPGMail". I'm wondering if there are any recommendations for or against any of them.

Thank you for your time

    Hi Pedzsan

thanks for your interest in GPG Suite on the iOS platform. And sure the question is ok to ask! We are still evaluating options concerning a solution. In near term that is out of scope for us, since Apple does not allow plugins in Mail on iOS. So in short we would have to develop our own mail client. On the iOS App Store the following OpenPGP solutions are available:
    Canary Mail iPGMail

    For Android there is
    OpenKeychain with K-9 Mail

In any case, please make sure to not transfer any secret keys via email. Use iTunes file transfer for that.

    Kind regards,
    Steve
