<p>I second that.</p>
<p>Deactivating the "old" version the moment the new version is
released is... let's just call it silly, because every other word
one could use might upset somebody.</p>
<p>Not everybody can download 32 MB at the drop of a hat just
because it would suit the developers. Get real, guys.</p>

deactivate itself when a new version is available.</p>

<p>there's a few aspects to this debate which we are aware of and
hearing from you all is important information.</p>
<p>During the entire beta process there were a few hiccups which
should not have happened. Those happened around the first betas and
we want to apologize for that.</p>
<p>Then up until b6, there was the problem, that automatic checks
for updates were not behaving as expected. That is fixed with b6
(hallelujah!) and from now on, if you have enabled automatic update
checks, sailing should be much smoother.</p>
<p>Besides the above there's one last aspect: we need to make sure
to release timely updates <em>before</em> anything expires of
course.</p>
<p>Whit that being said, is any of you still running into any
expiry issues now?</p>
<p>All the best and thanks for your feedback,<br>

<p>thanks for your replies.</p>
<p>@Steve: "we need to make sure to release timely updates before
anything expires of course."</p>
<p>So the software can still disable itself? That means the issue
is not solved. Will future release versions, if you plan on making
any, also contain this feature?</p>

<p>if the licensing for GPGMail is rolled out, we will have a test
version which will expire. But that is not directly related to the
beta. For the beta we want to ensure users are on the latest beta.
If you have automatic updates enabled and new versions are
published early enough this should not be a problem.</p>
<p>All the best,<br>

maybe we as users should take care to have a daily auto update
enabled.<br>
I'm not completly sure, but if my weekly update setting checks for
update<br>
just one day before you release it, this could be the reason to
miss it.<br>
Cheers,<br>

a problem. They were indeed broken, but that's now fixed. Then yes,
frequent update checks do help. So if you want to check daily, just
open GPGPreferences > Updates and set GPGMail to daily
checks.</p></div>Steve
