me it does not matter much what your favourite nintendo is :-)</p>
<p>But as information and communication technology collective we
are shooting at the wrong people, the ones that need to be
offloaded are the ones that prevent or do whatever to prevent a
free flow of information, support, creativity and so forth...</p>
<p>In my head target number one is the NSA and the western world
should really think about who is benefitting most of global divida
et impera.</p>
<p>Because I have made my fair share of contribution to the whole
(as in support, coding, creativity, ....)</p>
<p>I watched the birth of Google, the birth of Minix, the pirate
bay, youtube, .... and witnessed what happened with Julian Assange,
Edward Snowden, Peter Sunde, Gottfrid Svartholm, ...</p>
<p>Extremist views never lead to solution the add to complexity and
global problems.</p>
<p>Yet still we a humanity have to work harder, faster, stronger,
more more more more to have (yes I'm going to use the Anonymous
rhetoric) to have the 1% club have more so they can buy a bigger
boat, a bigger house a bigger bolder faster stronger.... what?
ego?</p>
<p>Pyramid models are prone to error and for sure they will
fail.</p>
<p>I perfectly undestand the stance of not wanting to support
without any ROI either short or long term.</p>
<p>Then again, I'm from the pitfall of all, the global testlab
called belgium, for some reason people think that we as people can
be used a testlab to test terror, diseases, drugs, whatever....</p>
<p>Which is against our own constitution and which is against the
US constitution or any called 'democracy'. Democracy to the power
of 3 is democraZy, window dressing, due my duty work ...
scapegoat.</p>
<p>My two cents.</p>
<p>Peace</p>

<p>is your point that you understand but disagree with our
decision? I'm not sure I do get the bottom line of this post
correctly.</p>
<p>Best, steve</p></div>Stevetag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/350975552014-10-28T20:03:29Z2014-10-28T20:03:37ZDonations<div><p>Hi,</p>
<p>I agree :) gpg is an essential tool and that has a cost to end
user and developer.</p>
<p>Has anyone taken this up yet with Apple? If not I would be happy
to do so. I'm not on their payroll (not on anyone - no profit model
here) but I would like to see some trust restored and some
consensus reached. Some sort of of UN on global ICT or something as
te ITU is supposed to do (but seems to be failing)</p>
<p>Peace</p>
<p>Wal</p></div>Waltag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/350975552014-10-29T00:29:50Z2014-10-29T00:29:52ZDonations<div><p>I understand the need to move from the donation model to a pay
model, we all have rent to pay. Just my two cents here, but I use a
GPG app on my iPhone and iPad called OpenGP and it cost me $3.99
USD, and I would be comfortable paying for GPGTools (including all
of the tools) up to $20 USD if the updates for minor versions were
included. I have no issue paying for major version upgrades as long
as it truly works and we can get support when needed. Is there a
reason why this application suite of tools hasn't been made
available via the Mac App Store?</p>
<p>Thanks,<br>

tarnishing the brand name you've worked so hard to obtain. I'm not
saying it wouldn't be worth it, but this far down the road after so
many free products doesn't sit well on my stomach.</p>
<p>How about a single user license free option, and if you need to
lock down more than one email address, you pay for that
ability?</p>
<p>Or, open the source code up and let the Open Source community
take it over and create a new product, or charge for the
support.</p>
<p>I think encryption is a right of sorts, for those who want to
use it. Training people on how to use it is a different discussion,
but providing the means for someone to make it happen is just the
right thing to do. Could take a cue from RedHat, who charges for
their business class product and annual license fees, but offers up
Fedora for free to the Open Source community for tinkering and
upstream releases.</p>
<p>You'd get more respect from me for closing down the project
entirely than to move to a strict paid product model. Its also not
clearly defined, would one be paying for that one version, and have
to buy subsequent upgrades? If so, this is just adding to the list
of problematic softwares that people have to buy on regular
intervals because they were forced to, like Microsoft Office &
it's widespread use necessitating people to stay up to date.</p>
<p>I truly hope you explore more than one opportunity/option, not
just "OK time to pay up." Give the single user license some serious
thought -- if the product is truly worth it, the $$$ will come.</p></div>Mtag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/350975552014-10-29T04:37:19Z2014-10-29T04:37:19ZDonations<div><p>I think that the GPL license is the culprit.... GPL and App
store does not work.</p>
<p>Which does not prevent distribution outside the App store.</p>
<p>Maybe this would be the best solution, just ask 20$ for it, take
this up with Apple.</p>
<p>Peace</p>

<p>We still have to figure out details. Until then there's a free
beta which works rather solid on 10.10 (from what I've heard).</p>
<p>I'm closing this discussion. Thanks you all for speaking up and
letting us hear your thoughts and concerns. We do appreciate
that.</p>
