MacGPG #140 USB stick with GPG card token no longer working
Hi,
After the update to Yosemite my Gemalto USB stick with a GPG card token no longer works reliably. It works for a short period (several minutes) after a system restart or when I pull out the USB stick, put it back in, kill the gpg-agent and have it restart automatically by executing "gpg --card-status". The log shows the following when the token stops working:
20141107 17:28:27,755 com.apple.SecurityServer[56]: reader
Gemalto USB Shell Token V2: state changed 32 -> 162
20141107 17:28:27,756 com.apple.SecurityServer[56]: token in reader
Gemalto USB Shell Token V2 cannot be used (error 229)
At that point the gpg-agent will just hang when trying to talk to the USB stick. The issue remains with version 2.5b1 build 783b.
Thanks for any help. This issue is holding me back from updating to Yosemite on my main machine.

I am seeing the same issue in Yosemite with a Yubikey NEO. Killing the gpg agent when the key is unplugged clears it up temporarily.

Hi Jens, Sam,
this is a known bug with Yosemite. There seems to be a change in Apple's PCSC.framework that causes this problem.
We're currently looking into it.

Hi Jens,
this issue should be fixed. Could you please download and install our latest nightly build and see if the problem persists. That page also has sig and SHA1 to verify the download.
All the best, steve

Hi,
the nightly build (1192n) fixes the problem for me. I am using Gemalto USB Shell Token V2 on Yosemite 10.10.2.
Thank you very much for fixing this issue!
