Services decryption doesn't work

On Yosemite latest and Beta 2015.02-b5-1161. If I right-click a gpg file, I see the 'Decrypt File' option in the Services menu, but it doesn't do anything. On the same file, I can decrypt properly via the command-line.

In my console, I get this related message:

2/10/15 10:29:24.399 AM GPGServices[60231]: Can't allocate a new block for a pasteboard. Creation of a new Pasteboard will fail.

Any ideas?

    Same issue.
Can't seem to restart the service, even using OnyX, had to reboot.
A button to restart the service would be nice.

    Hi,

this is an issue which has been reported so far, but unfortunately we've yet to find a solution.
We're also currently not able to reproduce this issue, so it would be really helpful if you could add OS X version (geeware) and what mac hardware you're using.

    Thanks.

I was able to fix the problem by rebooting.

    I'm on 10.10.2, MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014)

Yea, the only work around I found so far is a reboot.

Mac OS 10.10.2, MacBook Pro Retina, 13", Late 2012

    Hi Jay and geeware,

is the problem gone for you after a restart or is it persisting after a while?

If it persists, do you have a way of reliably reproducing this problem?

    All the best,
    steve

Mine is ok since rebooting. I haven't seen it recur since, so I don't know
    if/how I can reproduce.

    Hi,

The problem is quite persistent, it comes back after a while (no estimate), but I have to reboot sometimes. Rebooting is only a workaround in my case

I happened twice before I posted the first message and 3 times afterwards.

    Thanks

Thanks for this quick feedback. Wow :)

geeware: but you do not have a reliable way of triggering the problem right? I'm asking because on our test machines we were not able to reproduce this so far. Neither on 10.9.5 nor on 10.10.2.

I don't really have a way to reproduce the problem... I always put my MacBook to sleep when I'm not using it, and sometimes, when I re-open it and use GPG, I can't use GPG menus under Services (such as Encrypt or Decrypt)... It does nothing.

So I restart my computer and it works again.

Geeware, thanks. The "sometimes" part is the very annoying part.

We have not yet found a reliable way to reproduce this issue. We'll update this discussion as soon as we have news about this problem.

    Hi all,

Sorry to interrupt in the discussion but I experienced similar problems and in my case it turned out that the pushbullet extension in google chrome was the troublemaker, causing all kinds of programs including GPG to throw the following error: Can't allocate a new block for a pasteboard. Creation of a new Pasteboard will fail.
I removed the pushbullet extension from chrome and kept only the desktop app which seems to have resolved my problems. Not sure if this applies to you, if not it could be useful to someone else.

    Cheers!
    Bart

Bart, thanks for your info. This could be very helpful.

    @Jay and Baptiste,

we've implemented some more debugging info. Please download and install our latest nightly build. That page also has sig and SHA1 to verify the download.

After that, please let the debug script run on your machine and post the output .log file as attachment to this discussion. This KB-article explains how to do that. Once the script is finished, a new mail with the info as attachment will be created. Please take that attachment and add it to this discussion here.

Also as Bart pointed out, do you happen to use the "Pushbullet" extension in google chrome by any chance?

    All the best, steve

Disclaimer: This is a development version which has not been thoroughly tested yet - bugs or crashes are to be expected. Thanks for helping us test.

    Hi all,

    I was using PushBullet indeed.

I removed it from Chrome and will try for a few days. I'll let you know.

If needed, I'll install the nightly.

    Thanks

Apparently, after a while, PushBullet was indeed the one causing the problem !

    Thanks Bart

geeware, Jay and Bart: so with Pushbullet installed, could you please look in console.app if you find more relevant info when the issue occurs.

Please install GPG Suite 1326n or later which has more logging for this specific problem.

I installed the Pushbullet extension (which wants full access to all pages I'm browsing btw). But I don't have any android device to test this with. So right now, I'm unsure, if this needs to be signed in and doing things to trigger the problem.

I'll keep an eye open if I can reproduce the issue here.

It might also be a good idea, if all of you who are affected by this problem would get in touch with the Pushbullet developers at [email blocked] and let them know about this problem.

Since Bart writes that not only GPGServices is affected but other software as well, it would be great to let them know, that this issue exists. They probably can fix it right away.

    All the best,
    steve

This issue is happening when the PushBullet Chromium Extension is installed.

Uninstalled and GPGServices will work as expected.

We did get in touch with the developers of PushBullet but sadly never heard back. Maybe they will resolve this problem in a future update. It seems GPGServices is not the only software affected by this problem.
