<p>Just started my mac, opened mail, and started working with
another application not related to mail. All of a sudden, men key
entry dialogue popps up over the other application asking for my

was ok, but then Mail crashes. Starting mail again it crashes upon
startup with the same dialogue that it failed to load the gpg

<p>thanks for taking the time to report those issues. First off,
are you planning on updating to OSX 10.10? By now 10.10.2 has been
released and it has stabalized quite well and important fixes have
been done by apple.</p>
<p>Is this always reproducible for you? I just tried this on
10.10.2 and was unable to reproduce.</p>
<p>Can you post exact reproduce steps in the form of</p>
<ol>
<li>... and so forth</li>
</ol>
<p>Also are you using any other mail plugins? Do you have all
updates from apple installed?</p>
<p>All the best,<br>
steve</p></div>Stevetag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/359514322015-02-05T07:30:44Z2015-02-05T07:30:44ZUnable to check the Signature button when selecting new email when defaulting a different email address<div><p>Hello,</p>
<p>Yes, every time I hit "new email" button, while a selected email
in the inbox addressed to a non-GPG connected email address of
mine, the signature button is grayed out even when selecting a
sending email address from me that is GPG listed in GPGkeychain as
well as recipient.</p>
<p>Heres a step by step instruction how I get the issue:</p>
<p>Start point is that I have two own emailaddresses connected to
different servers or the same, say<br>
"<a href="mailto:GPG@me.com">GPG@me.com</a>" and<br>
"<a href="mailto:nonGPG@metoo.com">nonGPG@metoo.com</a>".</p>
<h2><a name="-i-also-have-a-recipient-quot-gpg-receiver-com-quot-"
href="#-i-also-have-a-recipient-quot-gpg-receiver-com-quot-" class=
"anchor"></a> I also have a recipient, "<a href=
"mailto:GPG@receiver.com">GPG@receiver.com</a>"</h2>
<p>Now, here goes with creating the issue:<br>
1. In my inbox, an email sent to me on "<a href=
"mailto:nonGPG@metoo.com">nonGPG@metoo.com</a>" is
selected/highlighted (something is always selected)</p>
<ol>
<li>
<p>I hit "new email" button and a new empty mail shows with my
from-address defaulting "<a href=
"mailto:nonGPG@metoo.com">nonGPG@metoo.com</a>", because thats the
kind of email address selected in my inbox.<br>
[both lock and sign buttons greyed]</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>I enter to: "<a href=
"mailto:GPG@receiver.com">GPG@receiver.com</a>"<br>
[both lock and sign buttons greyed]</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>I change sender email address from "<a href=
"mailto:nonGPG@metoo.com">nonGPG@metoo.com</a>" to "<a href=
"mailto:GPG@me.com">GPG@me.com</a>"<br>
[lock button becomes activated and can be used, sign button still
grey]</p>
</li>
</ol>
<p>Recipients have been complaining that my email was not signed,
because I could not in this case.</p>
<hr>
<p>And now, here goes with normal way:<br>
1. In my inbox, an email sent to me on "<a href=
"mailto:GPG@me.com">GPG@me.com</a>" is selected/highlighted.</p>
<ol>
<li>
<p>I hit "new email" button and a new empty mail shows with my
from-address defaulting "<a href=
"mailto:GPG@me.com">GPG@me.com</a>", because thats the kind of
emailaddress selected in my inbox.<br>
[lock button grayed, sign button active]</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>I enter to: "<a href=
"mailto:GPG@receiver.com">GPG@receiver.com</a>"<br>
[both lock and sign buttons active]</p>
</li>
</ol>
<p>Hope this explains better!</p>
<p>Further, Im unable to update my main mac from 10.7.5 due to
uppdate issues regarding a BootCamp partition software, which i
need for work. Mail client is 5.3 [1283]</p>
<p>Secondly, my oldest workshop-mac cant be updated beyond 10.6 due
to its age. (Thats the thing with macs, they outlive their software
future compatibility, and its a somewhat nasty habit of the
industry to force updates to gain money.)</p>
<p>best regards, and thank you for your software, love it!!<br>

<p>thanks for the exact steps. I could not reproduce this problem

<p>after spending quite some time on a fix for this, we now face
the very odd situation that we can no longer reproduce the
problem.</p>
<p>So, could you please run all updates from apple software update,
then install GPG Suite b6 and retry the following:</p>
<ul>
<li>create new mail from account which has no openpgp key</li>
<li>switch to account for which an OpenPGP key exists</li>
<li>try to sing the mail</li>
</ul>
<p>Does that now work?</p>

<p>It now works fine! Just after you posted the response on my
description email, it started working… maybe I got out of
sync here following up the issue, I'm sorry for that.</p>
<p>However, I seems now in the forum flow that my description entry
is somewhat altered (3 Posted by Johan LN on Feb 05, 2015 @ 08:30

describe the problem is all changed to "[email blocked]" - reading
it like that makes no sense. Did you see my original description,
or only the "[email blocked]" version?</p>

<p>Back on topic: I'm not sure why this happened in the first

<p>Something has happened with my Mail app since the GPG update

<p>It was just one of the regular (quite frequent) auto updates
from GPG.</p>
<p>Here's a screenshot.</p>
<p>Another weird thing is that I now seem to be stuck in the update
as shown in the picture (build 932n show in macOS settins panel for
GPG. When hitting "Check Now", a new file is downloaded, a restart
of GPG is made after asking for installing the update, and still
the same version is present even after restart of the whole
system.</p>
<p>Again, I'm running MacOS 10.7.5 due to other hard- and software
related requirements.</p>
<p>The link You sent med did'nt work, but I recognize the issue
stated in the URS, as it was I that started that thread with
GPG.</p>

<p>draft encryption is still enabled. You need to uncheck the first
option in the preferences for GPGMail. Unchecking the first option
should prevent drafts from getting encrypted, although we don't
recommend this option because it can be a security risk if you
store drafts on the mail hosters servers.</p>
<p>We still need to look into the update details. To temporarily
work around that, I suggest you install the last stable for 10.7
from here: <a href="https://releases.gpgtools.org/oldies/">https://releases.gpgtools.org/oldies/</a></p>
<p>Note that development of GPG Suite for 10.7 is no longer
continued. So if you can, you may want to update to 10.9 or newer
in order to run the latest GPG Suite.</p>

<p>Well, the unchecking of that "Encrypt Drafts" don't work, as it
checks itself on again after unchecking. Probably related to the
old system maybe.</p>
<p>It's somewhat troublesome that older systems are phased out
rather quickly. El Capitan will mess up other work related features
related to Windows capability and the use of large non SSD-drives,
which ElCapitan more or less wont handle with speed at all.</p>
<p>I'm also stuck in some sort of update loop, that after
installation actually havent updated anuthing and the dowload-loop
starts again. I will check the oldies-version to see if it works
better.</p>
<p>Thanks for your support.</p>
