Unable to check the Signature button when selecting new email when defaulting a different email address
Running the latest GPG Suite (1197n)
If I have an email selected in the inbox, which is sent to one of my non-keychained email addresses, the new email default send-address becomes that non-keychained email address; Nothing strange with that - and the signature and lock-buttons are grayed out as expected.
However, swapping to a keychained email sender address in this new email, and typing in a friends keychained email address only opens up the lock button. I'm still not able to get the check-mark on the signature button, which is still grayed out.
This in comparison to when I create a new email, when Mail defaults one of my keychained addresses -> both lock and signature buttons are usable.
Is this right? Feels like both lock and signature buttons should open when selecting the approved addresses in a new email.

Ops, now Mail refuses to start due to claimed problems with lading a GPG plugin… Thus, 1197n don't seem stable :/
Just started my mac, opened mail, and started working with another application not related to mail. All of a sudden, men key entry dialogue popps up over the other application asking for my keyscentence, and I mistakenly type the wrong sentence. Another try was ok, but then Mail crashes. Starting mail again it crashes upon startup with the same dialogue that it failed to load the gpg plugin.

Hi Johan,
thanks for taking the time to report those issues. First off, are you planning on updating to OSX 10.10? By now 10.10.2 has been released and it has stabalized quite well and important fixes have been done by apple.
Is this always reproducible for you? I just tried this on 10.10.2 and was unable to reproduce.
Can you post exact reproduce steps in the form of
Also are you using any other mail plugins? Do you have all updates from apple installed?
All the best,
steve

Hello,
Yes, every time I hit "new email" button, while a selected email in the inbox addressed to a non-GPG connected email address of mine, the signature button is grayed out even when selecting a sending email address from me that is GPG listed in GPGkeychain as well as recipient.
Heres a step by step instruction how I get the issue:
Start point is that I have two own emailaddresses connected to different servers or the same, say
"[email blocked]"
and
"[email blocked]".
I also have a recipient, "[email blocked]"
--------
Now, here goes with creating the issue:
1. In my inbox, an email sent to me on "[email blocked]" is selected/highlighted (something is always selected)
2. I hit "new email" button and a new empty mail shows with my from-address defaulting "[email blocked]", because thats the kind of email address selected in my inbox.
[both lock and sign buttons greyed]
3. I enter to: "[email blocked]"
[both lock and sign buttons greyed]
4. I change sender email address from "[email blocked]" to "[email blocked]"
[lock button becomes activated and can be used, sign button still grey]
Recipients have been complaining that my email was not signed, because I could not in this case.
------------
And now, here goes with normal way:
1. In my inbox, an email sent to me on "[email blocked]" is selected/highlighted.
2. I hit "new email" button and a new empty mail shows with my from-address defaulting "[email blocked]", because thats the kind of emailaddress selected in my inbox.
[lock button grayed, sign button active]
3. I enter to: "[email blocked]"
[both lock and sign buttons active]
Hope this explains better!
Further, Im unable to update my main mac from 10.7.5 due to uppdate issues regarding a BootCamp partition software, which i need for work. Mail client is 5.3 [1283]
Secondly, my oldest workshop-mac cant be updated beyond 10.6 due to its age. (Thats the thing with macs, they outlive their software future compatibility, and its a somewhat nasty habit of the industry to force updates to gain money.)
best regards, and thank you for your software, love it!!

Hi Johan,
thanks for the exact steps. I could not reproduce this problem here so far following the exact steps on OS X 10.10.2 and GPG Suite beta 5.
But I was indeed able to confirm this problem on OS X 10.7.5.
We've a ticket for this problem and it's connected with this discussion. This discussion will be re-opened as soon as the ticket is closed so you'll receive a notification. Feel free to open a new discussions should you run into further problems or need assistance.
All the best,
steve

Hey Johan,
after spending quite some time on a fix for this, we now face the very odd situation that we can no longer reproduce the problem.
So, could you please run all updates from apple software update, then install GPG Suite b6 and retry the following:
Does that now work?
Kindly,
steve

Hello,
It now works fine! Just after you posted the response on my description email, it started working… maybe I got out of sync here following up the issue, I'm sorry for that.
However, I seems now in the forum flow that my description entry is somewhat altered (3 Posted by Johan LN on Feb 05, 2015 @ 08:30 AM) ; The two different email addresses I used as an example to describe the problem is all changed to "[email blocked]" - reading it like that makes no sense. Did you see my original description, or only the "[email blocked]" version?
Best regards and thank you again for your Support and development

Johan, thanks for the quick feedback. I wonder if MacGPG2 2.0.27 makes a difference. Anyhow, it's good to hear this is no longer a problem.
I'm not sure I can follow the question about mail addresses. All mail addresses you mention appear as "[email blocked]". Please use your browser for replies and use the email addresses in form of emailATaddressDOTorg. If anything changed, I sometimes clean posts, or put three posts into one if it was just small additions to keep discussions readable.

Hello,
I got MacGPG 2.0.27.
Aha, replying via email might be it, I just wondered wether my description of the problem originally reached you without the "[email blocked]"?

Strange indeed. I'd have to check with the company hosting this platform.
Back on topic: I'm not sure why this happened in the first place, why I was able to reproduce and now the issue is no longer reproducible for neither of us. We could be looking at a very rare timing issue which only happens under very specific circumstances.
I'm closing this discussion. If you need further assistance or have questions you can re-open this discussion here or open a new one any time. Also if this issue re-surfaces please do report back.
Best, steve

Hello,
Something has happened with my Mail app since the GPG update today - a forced encryptotion of all newly created email drafs. I turn it off i the mail app settings, but it still encrypts the email drafts and the setting is on again after restarting Mail app.
MacOS 10.7.5

Hi Johan,
can you please post a screenshot of Mail.app > Preferences > GPGMail.
When where you offered the update or from which location did you download the update?
All the best,
steve

Hi,
It was just one of the regular (quite frequent) auto updates from GPG.
Here's a screenshot.
Another weird thing is that I now seem to be stuck in the update as shown in the picture (build 932n show in macOS settins panel for GPG. When hitting "Check Now", a new file is downloaded, a restart of GPG is made after asking for installing the update, and still the same version is present even after restart of the whole system.
Again, I'm running MacOS 10.7.5 due to other hard- and software related requirements.
The link You sent med did'nt work, but I recognize the issue stated in the URS, as it was I that started that thread with GPG.
Best regards

Hi Johan,
draft encryption is still enabled. You need to uncheck the first option in the preferences for GPGMail. Unchecking the first option should prevent drafts from getting encrypted, although we don't recommend this option because it can be a security risk if you store drafts on the mail hosters servers.
We still need to look into the update details. To temporarily work around that, I suggest you install the last stable for 10.7 from here: https://releases.gpgtools.org/oldies/
Note that development of GPG Suite for 10.7 is no longer continued. So if you can, you may want to update to 10.9 or newer in order to run the latest GPG Suite.
All the best,
steve

Hi,
Well, the unchecking of that "Encrypt Drafts" don't work, as it checks itself on again after unchecking. Probably related to the old system maybe.
It's somewhat troublesome that older systems are phased out rather quickly. El Capitan will mess up other work related features related to Windows capability and the use of large non SSD-drives, which ElCapitan more or less wont handle with speed at all.
I'm also stuck in some sort of update loop, that after installation actually havent updated anuthing and the dowload-loop starts again. I will check the oldies-version to see if it works better.
Thanks for your support.
Best regards
/Johan

Did you install the GPG Suite I linked in comment 13? Which GPGMail version are you now running?
