beta 4 2014-12: Serious issue with updater-prefs for GPGMail!

After clean install of beta 4 (clean install meaning: first running the uninstalleer) I went over the update-settings in GPGPreferences.

When switching the settings for GPGMail from Pre-release to Nightly and - out of curiosity - clicking “Check now“ I got this shocking result:

The updater suggests to replace GPGMail 2.5beta4 with version 2.1 from October 2013!

This could cause serious problems if the updates were set to “automatically“!

I´ll try to upload a screenshot in a comment after this, because the last two times the forum server returned a “zero content“-alert when I attached the 49 KB file to my contribution. Maybe the timeout-settings of the forum server have to be set to longer intervalls. I am writing from a Hotel-WiFi with upload-speeds of 1 to 3 KB per second.

    similar problem here with my Yosemite , Version 1.5b2 Build 730b (prefs) GPGmail 2.5b4 (build802b), GPGkey 1.2b3 (build980b), GPG services 1.10b2(build730b), MacGPG2 2.0.26b2(build750b)

GPGmail keeps trying to update to version 2.1 as 2.5b4 is OLD !!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi Thomas,

thanks for your report. This is very odd and should not happen.

    What we know so far:

    • GPG Suite Beta 4 installed on system
    • GPGPreferences > Updates > GPGMail is on Nightly channel

At this very moment the expected behavior for all three channels with GPGMail 2.5b4 installed, should be:

"You're up-to-date! GPGMail 2.5b4 is currently the newest version available."

Paul can you please check the conditions, are they the same for you?

Also plese re-check this Thomas. We've adjusted the backend and this should no longer happen.

    All the best,
    steve

    Problem solved!

I tested both updaters – GPGMail prefs inside Mail-prefs and GPGMail update settings inside System-prefs: Result: GPGMail 2.5b4 is currently the newest version available.

    Thanks! Enjoy the fireworks!
