Encrypt Replies to Encrypted Mails by Default
GPGMail 2.5.b3 (797b)
- receive an encrypted message.
- reply to encrypted message.
The Reply is not encrypted by default.
The “Encrypt new messages by default” option is disabled, as I don’t want to write encrypted emails by default, but if I reply to an encrypted email, I always want the reply to be encrypted, as sending the quoted plaintext back to the sender defeats the original encryption.
What did you expect instead
I’d like ether for replies to encrypted emails to be encrypted by default (and a warning, if the other side’s pubkey is not available) instead of accidentally sending a plain-text email. If a default isn’t possible, I’d like a new Preference, like “Encrypt new messages by default”, but “Encrypt replies to encrypted messages by default“.
Describe steps leading to the problem.
- receive an encrypted message.
- reply to encrypted message.
The Reply is not encrypted by default.
If your problem concerns GPGMail, are you using any other plugins?
No.
