we are very sorry for your bad experience.
Due to changes introduced by Apple with macOS Mojave, Mail plugins have to be enabled manually before they can be used. It is unfortunately no longer possible for us to do that during installation as in previous versions.
Please follow these steps, and you should be up and running in no time:

Hope that helps.

Luke Letag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/465374052018-11-26T04:16:44Z2018-11-26T04:16:45ZGPG Mail: macOS Mail.app doesn't seem to work

Sergei, thanks for asking the question. It helped solve my problem, but what a pain! It might be worthwhile Luke for you to make it more obvious upon installation that more work is required to enable it.

thorantag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/465374052018-11-27T18:17:38Z2018-11-27T18:17:38ZGPG Mail: macOS Mail.app doesn't seem to work

Hi Thoran,

we are looking into options how to make this more obvious to users.

@Sergei: are you still seeing your problem?
