Which of our tools is giving you problems?

GPG SUITE

Attach a screenshot of the version info for all installed components (how to: https://gpgtools.tenderapp.com/kb/faq/where-can-i-find-version-info...):

Describe your problem. Add as much detail as possible.

After installing GPG Suite, my mail app no longer will open. the mail app will launch, and the top toolbar will change to the mail toolbar as normal, but the mail window will not open up. This originally happened two days ago, so i uninstalled GPG Suite, but my mail app still wouldn't open. I tried logging into another account, but the mail app for the new test account is innactive as well. This means that GPG Suite has corrupted the Mail app at an OS level, rendering it completely broken.

I then backed up my mac using time machine, erased the entire disk, and reinstalled another version of Mojave. After reinstalling a fresh copy, i (mistakenly) reinstalled GPG Suite again, in the belief that surely it wouldn't happen again. IT HAPPENED AGAIN! Now i have another computer that i will have to waste hours backing up, reformatting, and reimaging. I have used GPG Suite before in the past, but after now having a paid version of the app, and causing me hours of frustration, I can hardly believe ill give it a third shot.

What did you expect instead

I expected my Mail app to not be rendered inoperable

Describe steps leading to the problem.

installed GPG Suite > Mail app will no longer open

Are you using any other Mail.app plugins?

NO

    Hi Rory,

we are very sorry for your terrible experience.
Could you please try the following:

    1. Close Mail.app
    2. Open Terminal (easiest to find via Spotlight)
    3. Type the following line and press enter afterwards:
sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail EnableBundes -bool NO
    4. Start Mail.app

That did it! What went wrong where it caused the mail app to not open??

This might have been related to our mail integration, but unfortunately macOS Mojave makes it very hard to debug these cases. A re-installation of GPG Suite might solve it, but doesn't always.

Among all of our users only a few dozen are seeing this issue and we ourselves have not yet been able to reproduce it.

We would like to apologize again for any frustration this has caused.

    Thanks Luke,

One last question. When I fully install GPGSuite 2018.5, I’m not finding ‘Mange Plugins’ within the Mail preferences under ‘General’. I made my way over to ’security and privacy’ under ‘full disk access’ and I’m not seeing GPG Suite or Keychain under there. Do you have any insight as to what may be wrong?

    Hi Rory,

the command that solved your first problem disables all plugins. In order to try again, you have to re-enable Plugins using:

sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail EnableBundes -bool YES

Restart Mail.app after that. Hope it works this time around.

No luck, when I re-enable plugins, it causes my mail app to not open again.
