Why not create a stand-alone text editor for GPG?

Maybe there's an obvious answer for this, but have you all considered creating a stand-alone GPG encryption text editor like this: https://evpo.net/encryptpad/? I know you have the GPG Services tool, which covers situations where users need to encrypt blocks to text and files in other apps. And it does work in a few situations. But considering that most modern email apps have no concept of how to natively support GPG encryption, this could be a great stand-in. Something simple with buttons that encrypt, decrypt, sign, verify, and does the same for individual files would be great. I use the Postbox email client, which dropped GPG support in its most recent release (version 6) and does not support GPG Services. This is driving me to other websites to find over tools to allow me to continue encrypting my email.

Food for thought.

    Hi Joshua,

thanks for taking the time to bring up this suggestion.

We will internally discuss this feature. For the near term future this is sadly out of scope. We've added your voice to an open feature request for such a tool.

    All the best,
    steve
