MacGPG: Are passphrase and password the same thing?
Where can one locate the passphrase? I set up a password when I installed GPG Keychain, but did not set a Passphrase.

Hi Chris,
welcome to the GPGTools support platform. Sorry you are having problems using GPG Suite.
The words password / passphrase describe the same thing. We are still looking to unify the wording.

Hi Steve,
OK, that's even more confusing. I'm using the password I created. Now I'm
being told I have used 2/3 attempts, which I can only assume using the 3rd
will lock me out? How do I proceed with the data files I've already
downloaded?

Hi Steve,
This issue continue to haunt me. I never was able to get GPG to accept my
passphrase/password last night. So today, I had the data re-encrypted
using a newly created public key. So after downloading a massive amount of
data again, I attempted to decrypt and am getting the same message. This
is twice that the password I used to create the key hasn't worked, and now
I'm faced with the possibility of having to download this data a third
time.
Can you please help?

Solved via live chat.
Turns out the files in question were encrypted with an old key. Chris will request the files to be encrypted with his new key and then hopefully be able to decrypt as expected.
I'm closing this discussion. Should you need further assistance or have questions you can re-open this discussion here or open a new one any time.
Best,
steve
