Maybe I was not clear with my question. I just got a new Mac and I’m setting up everything. I’m able to decrypt data on my old Mac using GPG tools. To do that, I go to my web site, select the encrypted data, go to the “services” menu and select “Open GPG Decrypt” and everything works great.

On my new Mac, I’ve installed GPG tools, imported my old private key into the GPG keychain, but when I try to decrypt the data I get a message that says “Decrypt Failed, No Secret Key”.

On the new computer, the GPG suite is installed in the system prefs. When I click on it, the “key server” field is empty, so I guess I need to install my private key somewhere in the system so that it shows up in the key server field. That’s where I’m stuck. If someone could help enlighten me on hope to do that I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!

Protontag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/443207892017-12-23T13:18:02Z2017-12-23T13:18:02ZDecrypting Files in Safari

Hi Proton,

welcome to the GPGTools support platform. Sorry you are having problems using GPG Suite.

Can you please open GPG Keychain on your old mac and tick the bottom right option to only show secret keys. How many entries do you then see listed?

Repeat the process on the new mac.

We'll go from there.

All the best,

Thanks for the reply. I sorted it out. It turned out that when I exported the key, I did not check the box that lets you “include secret key in exported file”. As soon as I did that I was able to import everything. All good now!

Protontag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/443207892017-12-23T13:26:58Z2017-12-23T13:26:58ZDecrypting Files in Safari

Hi Steve,
