what do you need help with? You can't see this discussion?

Stevetag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/261826242013-04-02T20:07:56Z2013-04-02T20:07:56Zjust starting out

My original post disappeared even thought the reply by me to it
different.

Anyway, I'm trying to encrypt some text in textedit using one of
my keys. And then trying to decrypt that text using a different
key. Encrypting works OK but decrypting generates an error code
(decrypt failed (no secret key) Code = 17

Any idea what's going on

mdmantag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/261826242013-04-02T20:42:39Z2013-04-02T20:42:39Zjust starting out

Hi mdman,

this means that you might be using a public key you no longer
have the
secret key to.
It's best if you write down the key id of the public key you're
using to encrypt, then open GPG Keychain Access, select Show only
secret keys in the right bottom corner and verify that a secret key
is listed with that same key id.

Hope that helps.

Luke Letag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/261826242013-04-03T18:41:56Z2013-04-03T18:41:58Zjust starting out

Thanks for the help. I'm still confused. Can I create a public
key to test this out, or can you send me one? Thanks

mdmantag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/261826242013-04-03T18:49:51Z2013-04-03T18:49:51Zjust starting out

You should have the GPGTools team key in your GPG Keychain
Access if you ran the GPGTools Installer. You can send us a test
message to that mail address if you want.

If you don't have the key, just re-run the GPGTools
Installer.

Stevetag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/261826242013-04-23T10:27:38Z2013-04-23T10:27:38Zjust starting out

No further user feedback. Closing.
