<p>I had typed it all up nicely and then I realised that the sum is SHA1 not SHA256. That would explain the discrepancy.<br>
I should probably go home and get some sleep now.</p>

<p>no need to apologize. It's a bit confusing at the moment since 2017.1b3 uses SHA256 while 2016.10 still has a SHA1 checksum. The next stable release will also use SHA256.</p>
<p>Also having both stable and beta on the website can be confusing.</p>
