encrypting files

Many years ago I used to use PGP to encrypt files. I would like to do that with this program. That is, encrypt a file with someones public key, but do so outside of the mail program. Later I could past the file into some other mail, or attach it or leave it on a server. But when I download and install the program here it I see no way to encrypt a file. I see only the PGP Key Access Program.
One recent post talked about selecting a file and right clicking to choose openpgp decrypt. But when I right click a file I see no pgp choices.
How do I do this? How do I encrypt a file outside of mail?
I am using Lion 10.7.2
Thanks for any advice.

    Hi Dale,

Thank you for your feedback. You might have to activate GPGServices for files first. Please have a look at http://www.gpgtools.org/gpgservices/index.html and http://www.gpgtools.org/screencast.html.

    Did this help?

    Best regards, Alex
