welcome to the GPGTools support platform. Sorry you are having
problems using GPG Suite.

Please see this KB-article
on how to manage passwords for your keys.

I'd assume you are using a caching time and that is, why you are
not asked for the password upon decryption.

Try disabling the caching time or setting to a very low value
and then retry.

All the best,
steve

Stevetag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/418775842017-02-03T21:33:13Z2017-02-03T21:33:14ZGPGServices: decrypting file which has been encrypted with password is not asking for the password on decryption

That's not the problem.

one of the options during encryption is password. when you
encrypt it
asks for a password. You give it a password it encrypts with the
key
selected as well as the password. (the key may have a passphrase
as
well. true)

Then when you decrypt.

It asks for your "passphrase" you type it wrong 3 times... it
decrypts
anyway.

and never asks for the other password.

and just to be sure also click the "clear" button in GPGPreferences
> Settings.

Is the message then still decrypted when using the wrong
password?

Stevetag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/418775842017-02-03T21:36:48Z2017-02-03T21:36:49ZGPGServices: decrypting file which has been encrypted with password is not asking for the password on decryption

Yes and yes

problem indeed was active caching.

everything was behaving as expected.
