OSX Update, Mail 5.3 compatibility
Hi all, after running the September 19 OSX system software update, upon opening mail I am greeted with a message saying incompatible plugin disabled; GPGMail. Opening GPG Keychain Access and checking for updates, I see I have the latest version. Would reinstalling help anything, or do we need to wait for an upgraded app?

Many thanks comment #13 also worked for me. I actually updated from 1.3.0 to 1.3.3 right before (without opening Mail.app again) so I had to do
Great work, guys, I really appreciate it!

@Gabi, you might want to unhide your library folder on your machine. Apple does hide this folder since 10.7 (don't ask me why).
Open Terminal and enter
chflags nohidden ~/Library/Are you then able to find the folder described by Luke in post #13?

hey Steve,
thanks for taking care!
I run 10.6.8 so this folder should be visible as far as I understood
even after running the command you sent I cannot find any folder refering to Mail

Hi Gabi,
please do the following in Finder:
1.) Press Cmd + Shift + G or select in the menu bar "Gehe Zu" -> "Gehe zum Ordner"
2.) Enter ~/Library/Mail
3.) You should see a folder Bundles if you've had GPGTools installed before
4.) Drop the GPGMail.mailbundle into the Bundles folder
Hope that helps.

hi Steve
do you have any idea how to get rid of this broken key?
I managed to retype the password for it with the same "misstake" twice
but I have no idea what I have typed at all.
now I have a working key I know the password for - I created this afterwards
and one which I cannot use as.
the broken one keeps in "foreground" for any reason
allthough I have marked the second one as "standard"
is there any way I can remove the one I created first?
regards
gabi

Without the passphrase for your broken key, you have no way to revoke it. You can still simply delete the broken key. That would solve your problem. But if you uploaded that key to the key servers previously, it will stay there as active. That's why we recommend creating a revocation certificate when creating a new key. But now that the problem is here and the passphrase not available, those are your options.

Hi,
I'm on Lion (10.7.5) and I just ran a system update that upgraded Mail to 5.3. I upgraded the bundle as per instructions in comment #13 but this didn't fix the problem - Mail still disables GPGMail as incompatible at startup.
Help?

Hi Henri,
we've had a short period of time yesterday when the nightly was broken.
Could you please download the nightly version of GPGMail again from https://nightly.gpgtools.org and install it
It should be working again.
51 Posted by Henri on 26 Sep, 2012 09:44 AM
Thanks Luke, the latest nightly works :)

Thanks so much !

This comment was split into a new private discussion: GPGMail crashes when pressing reply
Hello,
on Mail 5.3 and 10.7.5 - just installed the latest nightly, and unfortunately mail now keeps crashing (I'm free to browse emails, but upon reply Mail crashes). Anybody else perhaps having the same issue?
thanks
Support Staff 55 Posted by Luke Le on 27 Sep, 2012 07:44 PM
Hi O.H.,
when did you install the nightly?
We've had a bug in there a few days ago, but should be resolved already.
56 Posted by O.H. on 27 Sep, 2012 08:24 PM
I installed the latest nightly about an hour ago. If I click reply or new message, it crashes. (I had more bugs yesterday, but they have been fixed by the nightly I installed an hour ago).
thanks..

Hey guys.
Using 10.7.5 did the nightly build update and now I can load Mail without the plugin getting disabled but getting stuck with not being able to encrypt email. What in the world would I be doing wrong? I can digitally sign but no encrypt icon grayed out. :(
Support Staff 58 Posted by Luke Le on 03 Oct, 2012 05:45 AM
Hi Chris,
are you a really sure you could encrypt before?
That would really strike me as odd.
You have to make sure that the address of the public key you use for encrypting completely matches the mail address you're sending to.
Let us know if you find something.

I ran into the same problem after an OS X update (Lion).
Is it still safe to use the nightly build?
Support Staff 60 Posted by Luke Le on 03 Oct, 2012 07:38 AM
Hi André,
yes it is and it will fix GPGMail for you on 10.7.5.
We'll release a new version of GPGMail soon which will incorporate a lot of fixes and finally be the first beta. Hopefully followed by the final 2.0 not too long after.
All of our time is invested and getting the Mountain Lion version to a good point at the moment.
Once things settle down a bit we'll also release bugfixed versions of the other tools.
