Steve,

Thank you for the reply.  I received 2 emails from you.  In the first one, there are two attachments.  I can decrypt one of the attachments.  I am attaching the contents of the decrypted file in the attached Word file for your reference.

When I use GPGTools, I have some observations and they are as follows:

Observation 1:  I created a file named “demo6” with a short message to you using TextEdit and saved in a folder.  I used the public key for the GPGTool team to encrypt it.  I have observed something interesting.  The encrypted message came in duplications.  This can be seen in “demo6” attached.

Observation 2:  When I highlighted one of the duplicated encrypted messages in “demo6” (I highlighted the first one) and decrypted that part, the decrypted message came in duplications too.  This can be seen in “demo6 copy” attached.

Observation 3:  I saved the encrypted file “as a version” (this is a selection available from the manual in Apple) in the TextEdit program to the same folder where I stored the file before encryption. This original file disappeared from the folder once the new file was saved to the same folder.   The new file that contained the encrypted message appeared in the folder.  It appeared that the original file was automatically replaced by the new one.

I used the search function in Apple to search for the original file.  The result showed the new one after the encryption but not the one before the encryption.  I could not find the original file.  I wonder where the original file was.  My intention is to keep both files – one before the encryption and one after the encryption.  But it does not seem it is allowing me to do so.  Or I have not performed the steps properly.

I do not have computer technical background and I am very new to GPG.  I’m not sure if I have done the decryption and encryption correctly.  May you offer further help on the above?  Thanks.

Best regards,

Iris

Hey Iris, I have searched and found your pub key from 2011 on the key servers. Then I sent you a test mail. Please see if you can decrypt that mail and let us know via this discussion here.

All the best :)
