My 'fix' for being unable to import keys
Hi,
Earlier today I found that I was unable to import keys from text files or from a key server.
After a lot of research, and trial/error, I was no better off. Uninstalling, deleting plist files and reinstalling didn't help.
Finally, I realized that I had previously moved my secring.pgp file to an encrypted folder of it's own and pointed to it in my gpg.config file.
So... I moved the secring.pgp file back to my .gnupg folder and removed the line from my .config file that had been pointing to it's custom location. That did the trick.
I was reluctant to try that as a solution, because my GPG Keychain Access app was doing fine locating that file as needed for all other functions. No problems with mail integration or anything else. Only problems were with importing public keys (and also could not delete keys).
I don't suppose many users will have the exact same scenario that I had, but if they had messed with the location of their secring.pgp file, that may be cause for a key import issue.
Best regards,
DLibrizzi

Hey D,
thanks for this useful and constructive feedback. I assume not many users have a scenario like you had, but for those having a similar issue this might be an important pointer to where the problem might be coming from. Also such feedback is always helpful, since we are constantly trying to improve the tools.
I'll close this discussion. But it'll remain viewable / searchable for others.
All the best :)
