Migration from Symantec PGP Desktop to GPG client
I am looking to migrate from Symantec to GPG. Are the pgp keys that we have already created still usable? Do I use the same key servers for pgp that I use with the Symantec client? We have one iMAC that I want to use the gpg client on also.

Hi Anthony,
absolutely should you be able to re-use your created keys.
As for The keyserver it's probably best to keep
using the one from symantec but you might have
to configure it using GPGKeychainAccess -> Preferences.
It also no problem to use GPGTools on your iMac.
Hope that helps

Luke,
Thanks for the information. So I could then migrate all my PGP users to the
GPG client and still use the Symantec key server? If I stopped paying my
annual fee to Symantec, am I able to still use their key server?

GPGTools would most likely support the keyserver but we're not familiar with Symantec licensing or maintenance rules.
You'll have to check with them directly.

Luke,
Is there a management server similar to the PGP Universal server by Symantec
available? Does the GPG client have the ability to proxy the email as it is
sent and received? I downloaded a copy of the installer and am going to give
it a try. Thanks for the help.

If you could describe in further detail how your symantec setup
works and what the universal server does I'll check it for you.
Also, how does the proxy solution work?

Luke,
The proxy solution is part of the desktop client where PGP desktop watches
for any email inbound or outbound. When it sees the email it snags it and
either encrypts it based on policies set or decrypts and hands off the email
to the email client. We use the PGP Desktop Professional.

The Universal Server is best described here.

GPGTools works differently. We don't have a management server. Mails are encrypted via the GPGMail plugin (for the Apple Mail.app client) when they are sent.
So if you want to migrate you'd somehow have to get your existing keys into GPG Keychain Access and then simply use the GPGTools Installer. Did you try that already?
What's currently missing for a successful migration?
All the best,
steve
