Mail.app Version 5.2 (1257)
GPGMail 2.0a30

Q: How can I make the default be 'encrypt=no' while composing e-mail in apple Mail.app?
I've been caught out several times sending encrypted e-mail, but intending to send cleartext. The default is set to sign and encrypt if I have the recipients keys.
I'd like to explicitly decide to encrypt, even if I have the recipient's pub key.

Hey jd, first off: sorry for this very slow response time.

This will be improved in the 2.0 final version of GPGMail. Our idea is to provide smart rules to the user. Mail will learn whom you decide to write to encrypted and who you prefere to communicate unencrypted with.

Then GPGMail will use the information of the last few mails towards a person and assume a similar behavior for the next mail. But once 2.0 is out we also might add general settings as the one you are recommending.

So for now I can onl ask for some more patience. 2.0 final will be due soon. But we don't want to rush it out the door.

keep your pants on a little longer ;)

    Cheers,
    steve

    Hello,
I would also very much enjoy the ability to manually decide whether to encrypt or decrypt a mail. I want this to be an explicit decission and not an automatic process!
    Thank you.

Hi Mort, we currently don't have this as an option, but will most likely include it in the future since it has been requested very often.

    All the best,
    steve
